Bruins Sign Torey Krug to an Entry-level Contract

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed college free agent defenseman Torey Krug to an entry-level contract. Krug will report to the Boston Bruins (NHL) and will be eligible to play in the remaining regular season games with Boston, but not the postseason. 

Michigan State will hold a press conference at 12 noon on Sunday, March 25. Krug will be available to the Boston media following the team’s morning skate on Tuesday, March 27 at the TD Garden.

Krug is a 5’9”, 180 Ib. defenseman who recently finished his junior season at Michigan State University, serving as captain for the second straight year. In 38 games with Michigan State this year, he set career bests in goals (12), assists (22) and points (34) and was named the CCHA Player of the Year and a 2012 Hobey Baker Award Finalist. He led all CCHA defenseman in scoring, was selected as the Best Offensive Defenseman for the second straight season and shared the CCHA scoring crown with Notre Dame’s T.J. Tynan, becoming the first defenseman to capture a CCHA scoring title since 1986-87.  He was also named to CCHA’s First Team for the second year in a row.

In 114 career CCHA games at Michigan State, the 20-year-old finished with 26-57=83 totals.
