Bruins Sign Defenseman Chris Breen To A One-Year, Two-Way Contract

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, July 2, that the Bruins have signed defenseman Chris Breen to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2015-16 season worth an annual cap figure of $600,000 at the NHL level.

Breen scored two goals and recorded eight assists for 10 points in 52 regular season games for the Providence Bruins in the 2014-15 season. He also added one assist in five playoff games with the P-Bruins during the 2014-15 season.

The 26 year old, Uxbridge, ONT native played nine NHL games for the Calgary Flames and made his debut on October 22, 2013 at the Phoenix Coyotes.

Breen logged 245 games for the Flames AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, where he totaled nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points.

The 6’7”, 224-pound defenseman went unselected at the NHL Entry Draft and was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on July 1, 2014.
