BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, Sunday, October 12, that the club has recalled forward Seth Griffith from Providence and assigned forward Craig Cunningham to Providence.
Griffith will join Boston for their 11:00 a.m. practice at TD Garden on Sunday. This is the first NHL regular season recall of Griffith's career.
In two games with the Providence Bruins this season, Griffith has one goal with a plus-three rating. Last year, Griffith skated in 69 games with Providence and scored 20 goals (tied for third) and notched 30 assists (third on the team) for a total of 50 points (second on the team). He also skated in 12 playoff games with Providence accruing four goals and seven assists.
In his four seasons playing with the London Knights (Ontario Hockey League), Griffith scored a total of 102 goals with 159 assists for 231 points in 207 games played. Griffith has also played in 56 playoff games with London while tallying 26 goals and 36 assists.
The 5’9 192 lb. native of Wallaceburg, ON was drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Cunningham skated in all three games for Boston to begin the 2014-15 season and has now appeared in five career NHL games. He tallied 25 goals and 22 assists in 75 games last year with Providence.
