BOSTON, MA – Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled right winger Petr Tenkrat from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, and has assigned forward/defender Wade Brookbank and left winger Jeff Hoggan to the Providence Bruins. The three moves are effective as of Noon ET today, when the players all cleared waivers.
Tenkrat, a 29-year old who signed with the Bruins on June 15, 2006, has not seen any time this season with Boston, but has played seven games with Providence. In AHL action, Tenkrat has scored two goals and registered seven assists this season.
Tenkrat, a former eighth round pick by Anaheim in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, had played in Finland and Russia since 2002. His last NHL action came on April 14, 2002 as a member of the Nashville Predators. The Predators lost the game 6-4 in Phoenix, and Tenkrat scored one goal in 14:14 of action.
Brookbank, also in his first year with the Bruins after signing as a free agent on July 21, 2006, has seen action in seven games this season, notching one goal. He played his first full season in the NHL last season with Vancouver, where he score one goal and registered two assists in 32 games.
Hoggan, a 28-year old first year Bruin, has played in every game this season for Boston. Thus far he has tallied one assist. Last year, in his first full NHL season, Hoggan played 52 games for St. Louis scoring two goals and notching six assists.
The Bruins are in action tonight at the TD Banknorth Garden, where they host the Ottawa Senators at 7:00 p.m.
