BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, December 29, that the club has recalled forward Matt Lindblad from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League) on an emergency basis. Lindblad will join the team Monday and be eligible for Monday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at TD Garden.
Lindblad has skated in one game for Boston this season on November 22 against the Montreal Canadiens at TD Garden. He has appeared in three career games for Boston, making his NHL debut on March 15, 2014 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
In 29 games for Providence this season, the forward has registered six goals and six assists with a plus-five rating. From 2012-14, the 24-year-old forward has appeared in 88 games for Providence, accruing 15 goals and 26 assists with a combined plus-four rating. In 12 postseason games for the P-Bruins in 2013-14, Lindblad posted three goals and four assists for seven points.
Prior to joining Providence, Lindblad skated three seasons (2010-13) for Dartmouth College. In 89 games for the Big Green, Lindblad racked up 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points. Before Dartmouth, the forward played in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede (2009-10) and the Chicago Steel (2008-09). The forward skated in 57 games for the Stampede where he notched 24 goals and 46 assists for 70 points and a plus-11 rating. While with the Steel, he appeared in 51 games where he scored five goals and acquired 20 assists.
The 6’0’’, 185-pound Winnetka, IL native was signed by Boston as a free agent on April 5, 2013.
