Bruins Recall Kemppainen from Providence Bruins

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, February 12, that the team has recalled forward Joonas Kemppainen from Providence. Kemppainen will join the team in Minnesota and be available for Saturday’s game against the Wild.

Kemppainen, 27, is currently in the midst of his first NHL season and has appeared in 35 games with Boston thus far, tallying one goal and two assists for three points.

Kemppainen has appeared in three games for Providence in 2015-16.

Last season, the 6’3”, 223-pound forward played in 59 games for Oulun Kärpät in the Finnish Elite League, recording 11 goals and 21 assists with a plus-15 rating. In 19 playoff games for Kärpät last year, he tallied 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points with a plus-14 rating.

During his nine seasons in Finland, Kemppainen totaled 62 goals and 99 assists for 161 points in 464 regular season games with a combined plus-41 rating. In 65 postseason appearances in the Finnish Elite League, he accrued 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points with a plus-19 rating.
