Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, December 8, that the club has placed forward Joonas Kemppainen on injured reserve with an upper body injury and recalled forward Max Talbot from the Providence Bruins. Talbot will join Boston on Tuesday and will be eligible for Wednesday night’s game against the Canadiens in Montreal.
Kemppainen has appeared in 24 games in his first season with Boston, recording one goal and two assists. Kemppainen notched his first goal and assist in a two-point effort on October 23 against the New York Islanders in Brooklyn.
The 27-year old native on Kajaani, Finland was signed by Boston as a free agent on May 21, 2015.
Talbot has appeared in seven games with Boston this season. The 31-year-old center has also appeared in 10 contests for Providence in 2015-16, registering four goals and six assists for 10 points with a plus-3 rating. Three of his four goals have come on the power play with the P-Bruins.
Talbot was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round (234th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Bruins on March 2, 2015 with Paul Carey from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Jordan Caron and a sixth round draft pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
