Bruins Name Bruce Cassidy Providence Assistant Coach

Boston, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has named Bruce Cassidy the assistant coach of the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).


After a 13-year professional career as a defenseman in the National Hockey League (NHL), American Hockey League (AHL) and International Hockey League (IHL) Cassidy turned to the bench where he has served as the head coach of the Washington Capitals (NHL), Indianapolis Ice (IHL), Grand Rapids Griffins (IHL), Trenton Titans (East Coast Hockey League - ECHL), Jacksonville Lizard Kings (ECHL) and Kingston Frontenacs (Ontario Hockey League – OHL).

As Head Coach of the Washington Capitals during the 2002-2003 season and part of the 2003-2004 season, Cassidy lead the team to a 47-45-8 record in 107 games.

Cassidy, who last served as an assistant coach from 2004-2006 with the Chicago Blackhawks, played all 36 of his career NHL games with Blackhawks.
