Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, Thursday, September 19, that the following players will be in the lineup for the Bruins preseason game tonight against the Detroit Red Wings at TD Garden, at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Forwards: Gregory Campbell, Jordan Caron, Craig Cunningham, Rob Flick, Matt Fraser, Jarome Iginla, Nick Johnson, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Daniel Paille, Carl Soderberg, Ryan Spooner
Defensemen: Matt Bartkowski, Zdeno Chara, Dougie Hamilton, Torey Krug, Adam McQuaid, Zach Trotman.
Goaltenders: Chad Johnson, Malcolm Subban
- Gregory Campbell will see his first game action since breaking his right leg on June 5 during the Eastern Conference Final. He told media the past two days that he felt ready physically, that it was time "to just move forward and play." He'll get that chance tonight.
- Zdeno Chara will play in his first preseason game, after staying back in Boston for the games in Montreal and Baltimore.
"Just the Coach's decision to rest some guys and had a chance to look at some prospects," Chara said, of not suiting up in the first two games.
So, how many games does he need to be ready for the regular season? "As many as the coaching staff decides me to be playing," said the Captain. "I’m ready to play, so whenever they decide to put me in the lineup, I’m ready to play."
- Fans at TD Garden will see the Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Jarome Iginla line up close, likely bringing the same chemistry we saw against the Canadiens on Monday night, when Lucic assisted on Iginla's two goals.
- Rob Flick will see his first preseason action this year. It will also be his debut in the spoked-B, after the B's acquired him in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.
