BOSTON BRUINS GENERAL MANAGER DON SWEENEY AND FORWARD BRAD MARCHAND MEDIA AVAILABILITY AT 10:45 AM
Don Sweeney on this morning’s roster transaction...
We are going to make a roster move this morning. We sent Colin Miller to Providence and recalled Alexander Khokhlachev. Roster flexibility was something that we had to do this morning.

Brad Marchand opening remarks...
I just want to acknowledge the situation that I’ve put my team in for being undisciplined and affecting the game for them, taking away from the excitement to the fans being a part of this rivalry and taking that away from them and then also for affecting this game for myself and putting myself in a situation to not be part of this. So, I wanted to apologize and I truly am sorry to everyone about, again, the situation and it was not my intent to make a hit or try and injure anyone on that play.

Brad Marchand on how frustrating it is to miss the Winter Classic…
It’s very disappointing. It’s something that we were all looking forward to, but I respect the decision that the league has made, and I’m going to live with it.

Brad Marchand on if it’s more frustrating given the Bruins’ current injuries…
Yeah, and that’s the situation that I’m speaking of when I understand that I’ve put our team down when we already have some injuries, and again, I’ve put them at a disadvantage. So, that is frustrating, yes.

Brad Marchand on if he was concerned that he could be facing suspension after the hit…
Not really. I didn’t see how it all unfolded afterward, and the extent of the hit. So it was dealt with after the fact.

Brad Marchand on how the suspension affects he’s approached his playing style this season…
Again, the intent was not to make a hit on that play, and it differs from past instances. So I still don’t think this is changing how I’ve approached this season.

Don Sweeney on Brad Marchand’s maturity level...
I think it speaks a lot for Brad to want to be out in front of this today. He knows the impact that it’s had on the team, short of the game itself, and the fans and he asked us if he could sort of address it in front of his teammates going out for practice and getting ready for this game and I think it speaks – to answer the question – [to] the maturity. It says a lot to where Brad is and the impact he has on our lineup. So, I think we can leave it at that. We respect Player Safety’s decision on the play; it’s unfortunate for Brad and our team and our fans but we’ll leave it at that.
