Bruins, Celtics, American Red Cross and Bob's Discount Furniture to host Blood Drive

BOSTON, MA - On Saturday, January 29, the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, American Red Cross and Bob's Discount Furniture will be hosting a blood drive at the turnstiles on level two of the TD Garden concourse (100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114). Those who are eligible can join hundreds of blood donors expected to convene between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to help patients in need by donating blood. All donors will be able to access the fourth floor by entering through the East Premium Entrance, located on the street/North Station level of the TD Garden.


Presenting donors will be able to mingle with Bruins alumni including Barry Pedersen, Ken Hodge, Ken Hodge, Jr., Billy O’Dwyer, Bobby Miller, Bob Sweeney, and Tommy Songin, who will be in attendance as well as select Celtics alumni and get to tour the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics locker rooms. In addition, Bob's Discount Furniture President Bob Kaufman will be in attendance and donating blood. Free parking will be available underneath the Garden courtesy of MBTA North Station Garage (parking entrance at 121 Nashua Street). All donors will receive a free commemorative t-shirt and be eligible for incredible raffle items including drawings throughout the day for one of 20 Bob’s Discount Furniture recliners.*

Other items to be given away to lucky winners include Boston Bruins home game tickets, an autographed Bruins hockey stick, autographed Bruins hockey pucks and Bruins jerseys autographed by the Bruins team and individual players. Lucky participants may win Boston Celtics home game tickets, autographed Celtics championship team basketballs, Celtics photographs and mini-basketballs autographed by various players.

Presenting blood donors and families can meet Bruins and Celtics legends, take photos with mascots "Blades" and "Lucky" and enjoy appearances by the Bruins Ice Girls and the Celtics Dancers. Children will enjoy balloon animals; face painting and puppet show entertainment. Bob’s Discount Furniture will provide free ice cream, courtesy of Cronin's Ice Cream.

Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.  Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
