OPENING NIGHT PRESENTED BY TD BANK CEREMONIAL PUCK DROP
To commemorate the anniversary of their 50th and 80th rookie seasons respectively, Bruins legends Milt Schmidt and Bobby Orr will drop the ceremonial first puck on the Bruins' 2016-17 home slate. Orr, whose No. 4 jersey hangs in the TD Garden rafters, played 10 seasons (1966-76) with the Bruins and accumulated several honors in his Hall of Fame career, including two Stanley Cup Championships, three Hart Memorial Trophies as the league's MVP, two Art Ross Trophies as the league's leading scorer and eight Norris Trophies as the league's best defenseman. Schmidt, whose No. 15 jersey also hangs above the TD Garden ice, played 16 seasons (1936-42, 1945-55) with the Bruins, where he was part of the famous "Kraut Line" that helped lead the Black and Gold to two Stanley Cup Championships in 1939 and 1941. Following his playing career, the Hall of Famer served as head coach of the Bruins for 11 seasons (1954-66) and also served as the team's General Manager, leading the franchise to two Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972.
OPENING NIGHT PRESENTED BY TD BANK GIVEAWAYS
TD Bank will celebrate Opening Night at TD Garden by giving away a pair of Season Tickets to one lucky fan through an on-ice challenge during the second intermission. Fans can register for the chance to attend Opening Night and participate in the contest by visiting the new TD bank location at 200 State Street in Boston from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Thursday. TD Bank will also be giving away commemorative Opening Night shirts and other special surprises.
NEW THIRD JERSEY
This season, the Bruins will wear the sweater created for the 2016 Winter Classic as their third jersey. The uniform is inspired by the original look sported by the B's in their inaugural season in 1924-25 but has been updated with the Bruins current colors of Black and Gold, connecting the past with the present.
In 2016-17, the Bruins welcome in-arena host Michaela Johnson. A native of East Providence, RI, Johnson currently serves as the co-host of "The Rhode Show," a lifestyle TV program that airs live on weekday mornings on the CBS affiliate in Providence.
