BOSTON, MA – On Thursday, October 6, the Boston Bruins will celebrate their first home game of the 2011-12 Bruins season against the Philadelphia Flyers with a number of pregame celebrations. To kick off the day, the Bruins will host “Fan Fest” presented by TD Bank where fans can relive Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on the big screen in the TD Garden Plaza (100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114). In addition, Bruins fans of all ages, including those without a ticket, can attend free outdoor festivities that will begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m.
“Fan Fest,” presented by TD Bank, will include: a variety of interactive games, a balloon artist and face painting. Throughout the evening, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls and the Boston Bruins mascot, Blades, will be mingling and taking photographs with fans. Bruins fans will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Prince of Wales, Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies as well as the Mark Messier Leadership Award.
In an effort to recognize the amazing support from all of New England, and to pay homage to the men and women who serve our community, the Bruins will be holding a ‘White Glove Stick Salute’ prior to the game. Police, fire and military personnel from all over New England, members of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and a youth hockey team will lead the parade and Stanley Cup down Canal and Causeway Street. The Cup will be escorted through the military formation and ‘White Glove Stick Salute’ all the way into the building, where it will be welcomed for Opening Night.
Following the conclusion of the outdoor festivities, all fans will receive a commemorative Championship mini-banner, courtesy of TD Bank, at turnstiles on the way in and are encouraged to be seated by 6:30 p.m. for the night's banner raising ceremony.
The Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup championship banner – their sixth in team history – will be raised to the TD Garden rafters just before the start of the season opener at 7:00 p.m.
The 2011-2012 Boston Bruins season is presented by the Massachusetts State Lottery.
