The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program is an initiative designed to introduce the game of ice hockey by overcoming affordability barriers that limit involvement at the beginner level in an effort to increase participation in youth hockey and grow the game.
The program debuted in 2014 with just six locations and 300 participants, and has grown each year since. To date, over 2,000 local youth have participated in the Bruins Academy Learn to Play program. This year, $2,000,000 (retail value) worth of equipment will be donated through this program.
Over 3,000 youth players will have the opportunity to participate at one of over 50 locations across New England. For a registration fee of $100, participants will receive a full set of CCM equipment to keep valued at $500 retail, which includes skates, a personalized fitting by TSR Hockey, and four weeks of on-ice instruction led by certified coaches and NHL Alumni. The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program has helped to increase hockey participation, and over 60% of the youth hockey players who participated in the Little Bruins program last year subsequently enrolled in organized hockey.
The Bruins Academy Learn to Play program is open to children ages four to nine. Registration for the program is now open on BostonBruins.com/LearnToPlay on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, please contact
