BOSTON -Hockey Canada announced today, August 9, that Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy has been named an Assistant Coach of Team Canada for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Cassidy will join Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney, who was selected as an assistant General Manager for Team Canada in February.
He will join a coaching staff led by Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper, along with fellow assistants, Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach Peter DeBoer and New York Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz.
Cassidy is entering his sixth season as head coach of the Bruins and has a 194-82-41 record while in Boston. The Bruins have reached the playoffs each of his five seasons as coach and were awarded the Presidents' Trophy under his guidance in 2019-20 with a 44-14-12 record.
After the conclusion of the 2019-20 season, Cassidy became the fourth coach in Bruins history to receive the Jack Adams Award, given annually to the best NHL coach. During that season, the Bruins led the league in points (100), wins (44), regulation wins (38) and goals allowed per game (2.39)
This past season, Cassidy coached Boston to a 33-16-7 record, finishing the season with 73 points and making their fifth consecutive appearance in the playoffs.
The 2022 Beijing Olympics will take place February 3-20 at the National Indoor Stadium and the Wukesong Sports Center.
