BOSTON, MA – NESN announced Wednesday, April 7, that Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been named the winner of NESN’s 7th Player Award presented by Central Auto Team in Raynham and Norwood. Marchand was selected by fans who voted at NESN.com. NESN's 7th Player Award is an annual award presented to the Bruin who exceeded the expectations of Bruins fans during the 2015-16 season. This is the second time Marchand has received NESN’s 7th Player Award, he also won the award in 2011.
Marchand currently leads the Bruins with a career-high 36 goals (tied for fifth in the NHL) and a +19 plus/minus rating. He has 36 goals and 22 points for a career-best 58 points in 75 games played this season. Marchand also added 13 multi-point games and a career-best seven game goal and point streak to his resume this season.
The 27-year-old winger has played in 452 career NHL games all with Boston, registering 152-134=286 totals and 434 penalty minutes with a plus-137 rating. He also adds 16 goals and 23 assists in 66 career playoff games. Marchand was drafted by Boston in the third round (71st overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
NESN’s voice of the Boston Bruins Jack Edwards hosted an on-ice pregame ceremony before the Bruins/Red Wings game on April 7, 2016 to present Marchand with the award. In addition to the 7th Player Award trophy, Marchand will receive $5,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.
