The NHL chose Brad Stuart as its number one star last night following his game winning play versus the Montreal Canadiens.
"After the second period we weren’t too upbeat about how things were going for us," said Brad following the game. "We stuck with it and were able to pull it out."
It was a crazy game.
"It was kind of back and forth...it was two pretty good teams going at it. We were kind of upset on how we kind of blew the lead. And I think it showed good character on our part that we didn’t fold and were able to come back," he said.
Describing his part in the win, Stuart was characteristically humble.
"The forwards did a nice job of just getting the puck back to me and I just tried to get it through," he said. "The first one, I think hit four guys out front and went in the net. And then second one was a great deflection by Wayne [Primeau] in front of the net.
"The goalie didn’t even see it, I don’t think."
And good teams end up on top of games like last night.
"It was one of those games, where, if there was another ten minutes, who knows what would have happened. It was the first game we’ve played like that. Most of our games are pretty low scoring. And for us to be able to pull it out, having given up a lead like that, is a good sign for us."
How about a day off from practice?
"It’s up to the coaches -- but that would be nice," said Stuart with a smile.
Brad, you earned your day off.
Alright, it’s Buzz time on NESN.
Remember, the camera adds 30 pounds -- seriously, that whole thing about 10 is a lie. It’s more like 40. Yah, Yah. It’s more like 40 pounds.
