Boston Rookies Drop Final Game, 3-2, to Pittsburgh

Kitchener, Ontario -- The Boston Bruins rookie squad fell to the Pittburgh Penguins rookies, 3-2, Thursday afternoon in The Aud in Kitchener, Ontario.

Pittsburgh's Keven Villeaux beat Boston goaltender Matt Dalton (49-saves) at 9:10 of the second period to give the Penguins their final lead of the contest. Jordan Knackstedt (13:05, first period) scored the first of Boston's goals thanks to a play created by Marc Zanetti and Jason Wilson, while Jeff LoVecchio converted at 16:20 thanks to a pass from Zach Hamill.

Casey Picard-Zabotel and Andy Bathgate each scored for the Penguins while Pittsburgh's Brian Strait and Boston's Scott Fletcher fought -- all in the first stanza.

Pittsburgh goalie Patrick Killeen stopped 20 Boston shots for the win.

The Bruins fell to 2-1-0 in the tournament. The rookies will join the rest of the Boston training camp roster this weekend when the Black & Gold begin their official 2009 training camp schedule.
