Boston Bruins Week Ahead 4/11 - 4/18

BRUINS GEAR UP FOR GAME 2, HOST HABS IN THE HUB ON SUNDAY AND TUESDAY:  Trailing 1-0 in the series, the Bruins will play in Montreal on Saturday before returning home to host the Canadiens in Games 3 and 4 on Sunday night and Tuesday night at the TD Banknorth Garden. 

This is the 31st time that the Bruins and Canadiens have faced each other in the postseason, the most meetings of any two teams in NHL history.

POSTSEASON DEBUTS:  Nine Bruins made the first playoff appearances of their careers on Thursday night in Montreal.  Phil Kessel, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Petteri Nokelainen, Jeremy Reich, Marc Savard, Mark Stuart and Tim Thomas all saw action in the postseason for the first time.  Andrew Alberts and Vladimir Sobotka were healthy scratches on Thursday and will make their postseason debuts if and when they do appear in the B's lineup.

RINKSIDE CHATS: hosted their first Rinkside Chat of the postseason on Wednesday, April 11 when Aaron Ward joined fans for an hour-long session.  Be sure to visit on Tuesday to find out next Wednesday’s guest.

Bruins leading scorer Marc Savard finished 22nd overall in the League's Art Ross scoring race with 78 points, and his 63 assists ranked third overall behind Joe Thornton (67) and Pavel Datsyuk (66).

04.12.08:  This Saturday, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls will team up with Bay State Hockey to conduct the first ever Bruins Ice Girl All Girl Hockey Clinic. The Clinic will take place at the Bill Chase Arena in Natick. The first clinic will take place from 2:00pm - 3:30pm for girls 12 and under.The second clinic will take place from 3:30pm - 5:00pm for girls 13 – 16.  For more info please go to

04.13.08:  The Bruins will host FanFest in the West Plaza of the TD Banknorth Garden before Game 3. Rally with Lyndon Byers on the West Plaza between 4:45 and 6:15 PM. He will be joined by fellow Bruins Alumni and the Ice Girls. There will be plenty of prize giveaways courtesy of Lumber Liquidators, Dunkin' Donuts, and Coke.  15,000 AT&T Rally towels will be distributed to fans entering Sunday's game as well. The Bruins are encouraging all fans to wear their Bruins clothing to the game! Stop by FanFest in the West Plaza and be rewarded for displaying your Black and Gold. Be Proud and be LOUD!

The Boston Bruins and the New England Sports Museum have partnered to present the Stand Strong Character Search field trip program. During the morning of select Boston Bruins home game, field trip program students participate in a scavenger hunt designed to guide them through the museum and encourage them to utilize interactive exhibits and to examine artifacts. Interpretive panels relating to character in sports are spread through out the Museum.  Staff leads students through a discussion of the concepts of Determination, Courage, Fairness, Teamwork, and Responsibility.

The Boston Bruins have partnered with Village Automotive Group for their Keys to Success program.  The program aims to provide high school administrators with the tools to motivate students to achieve academic success.  Students have the chance to qualify for various prizes by exemplifying achievement of success in areas such as grade point average, improved attendance, tutoring, and volunteer work.  The grand prize is a car courtesy of Village Automotive Group, The Bruins have partnered with the program to provide incentives and to be involved with in-school rallies and events.

Patrice Bergeron and Glen Murray are the two current Bruins who have netted an overtime game winning goal in the postseason for the Black & Gold.  Bergeron's tally in OT on April 9, 2004 gave the Bruins a 2-1 victory over the Canadiens in Game 2, while Glen Murray had the gamewinner in Game 4 of that same series at 29:27 of overtime.  Meanwhile, Director of Hockey Operations and Player Development Don Sweeney can be added to this list, as he gave the Bruins a 2-0 series lead over New Jersey with his overtime goal in Game 2 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Semifinals.
