by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins

DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME: Following their game against the Islanders Friday night (7:00 p.m., TV: NESN, RADIO: 98.5 The Sports Hub) the Bruins will have 14 regular season games remaining on their 2010-11 docket. They currently lead the Northeast Division with 85 points, four clear of second place Montreal. Friday’s contest against the Islanders begins a four-game road trip through Columbus, Nashville and Toronto. Here’s a breakdown of their remaining opponents, with statistics NOT including Friday’s game against the Isles.

14: Total games remaining in B’s regular season
8: home games
6: road games
6: points separating second place from sixth in the East
4: games against teams currently in playoff position in their conference
1: game vs. Division leader (Philadelphia on 3/27)

HONORING A BROADCASTING LEGEND: The B’s will pay tribute to Bruins legendary radio personality Bob Wilson on Saturday, March 26 during the Bruins/Rangers game at the TD Garden. At 11:30 a.m., the Bruins will dedicate their home radio broadcast booth to Wilson by renaming it the "Bob Wilson Radio Booth." The Bruins will also install a silver microphone encased in a black and gold frame on the TD Garden’s level 9 façade beneath the home radio broadcast booth, which will be permanently displayed. Wilson recently celebrated his 82nd birthday on Wednesday, March 9.

CUTS FOR A CAUSE: Shawn Thornton and his teammates will be shaving their heads for charity on Thursday, April 7 as part of the 4th annual Cuts for a Cause event. Tickets to the event are on sale now and can be purchased for $20 by emailing Fans will be able to bid on the opportunity to shave the B’s players’ heads beginning Monday, March 21 on

BRUINS HELP “GROW HOCKEY”: Bruins Foundation Director of Development Bob Sweeney presented a check for $128,000 to the Massachusetts Hockey Association during the first intermission of Thursday’s game.  Of the total amount, $55,900 will be donated to Mike Cheever's "Grow Hockey" Program, a development program whose purpose is to seek, fund and share within the Massachusetts Hockey Association innovative methods for growing ice hockey participation throughout the state.

In the 10 games since a 6-3 win at the New York Islanders on February 17, the Bruins top line of Milan Lucic, David Krejci and Nathan Horton has been pacing the B’s offense. Since the start of that game, the line has combined for 13-22=35 totals. Of the 35 points, Krejci has 2-11=13 totals, Lucic has 6-7=13 totals, and Horton has 5-4=9 totals. Krejci and Lucic are first and second on the Bruins in points, with 52 and 51 respectively. Krejci has 42 assists on the season, and the Black and Gold are 25-3-4 when he registers an assist.

63 AND COUNTING… After Thursday’s capacity crowd at the Garden, the Bruins have now sold out 63 straight games (regular season and postseason, does not include Winter Classic at Fenway or 2010 Premiere Game in Prague). The Bruins sold out every regular and postseason game during the 2010 calendar year, the first time the organization has done so since the 1972 calendar year.

FIGHT CLUB: The Bruins are currently second in the NHL in fights with 66 this season, one behind the Pittsburgh Penguins. Of those 66 fights, 23 have come against divisional opponents. The B’s three leading fighters, Shawn Thornton, Adam McQuaid and Gregory Campbell, have all had the majority of their fights come in the first period. Thornton has 10 of 14 fights in the first, McQuaid has 9 of 12 and Campbell has 6 of 9. Two-thirds (44 of 66) of the Bruins’ fights have come at the TD Garden this season. After their three-fight night against Buffalo, the Bruins are now 8-3-3 when there are multiple fights in a game. T

LOOKING AHEAD: This week the Bruins will play against Jared Boll and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Boll is third in the NHL with 20 fights, and teammate Derek Dorsett also has 15. After Columbus, the Black and Gold travel to Nashville to face the Predators, who are 29th in the NHL with only 13 fights this season. Shawn Thornton’s 14 fights are more than the entire Predators team. Only 5 Preds have dropped the gloves this season, compared to 17 Bruins.
