Boston Bruins Week Ahead 2/14 - 2/20

BRUINS IN BRICK CITY: The Bruins face the New Jersey Devils in Newark, NJ tonight in game one of a five game road trip. After tonight's matchup, the Bruins will fly directly to Nashville to take on the Predators on Valentine's Day and then play at Carolina (2/17), Florida (2/21) and Tampa Bay (2/22). The Black and Gold are 11-1-0 in their last 12 games on the road.

"RINKSIDE CHATS" RETURN: BostonBruins.com's online interactive feature "Rinkside Chats," presented by Covidien, returned this past week, with Blake Wheeler joining fans for an hour-long online chat. The Rinkside Chats will run every other Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. ET for the remainder of the season on BostonBruins.com. David Krejci is the next guest lined up as he will participate on Wednesday, February 25.

HAIL TO THE CHIEF:
On today's date, February 13, in 2007 the Bruins honored John "Chief" Bucyk in pre-game ceremonies for his 50th season with the organization as a player and front office official. The Hall-of-Famer currently serves as the team's Road Services Coordinator.

"BRU FEST" DATES SET: On Thursday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 31 the Boston Bruins will hold their third and fourth Bru Fest events of the 2008-09 season sponsored by Boston’s own Samuel Adams brewery.

The outdoor festivities will start at 5:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m. (with last call at 6:45 p.m.) in the West Plaza outside of the TD Banknorth Garden. Tickets to Bru Fest can be purchased online at bostonbruins.com and cost $45.00. The $45.00 covers admission to the Bru Fest party, a voucher for one free beer or free soda, discounted concessions and a ticket to that evening’s Bruins home game. The B’s take on the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, March 19, at 7:00 p.m. ET and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. ET.

THE STAT OF THE WEEK, COURTESY OF THE BOSTON BRUINS WEEK AHEAD STAT MACHINE…
The B's recalled forwards Martins Karsums and Vladimir Sobotka on Thursday. They are two of eight players (seven skaters, one goaltender) who were members of the AHL Providence Bruins when Boston began their season on October 9, but have seen action for the Boston Bruins at some point this NHL season. The seven skaters- Karsums, Martin St. Pierre, Matt Hunwick, Matt Lashoff, Johnny Boychuk, Sobotka, Byron Bitz- have appeared in a combined 95 games for Boston and contributed seven goals and 20 assists. Goaltender Tuukka Rask meanwhile had a 35-save shutout of the New York Rangers in his lone start for Boston this year.
