12.09.07: Blades, the Bruins mascot, will be at the Lester Family home in Tewksbury, MA from 5-6pm. The Lester Family has decorated their home for the past 11 years during the holiday season using approximately 150,000-175,000 lights. Over the years, the Lester family has been able to use their light display to collect donations for local charities in New England. In 2006 and again this year, the Lester family has dedicated all donations made at their light show to the Travis Roy Foundation Helping Others Move Forward Campaign.
12.12.07: On Wednesday December 12th from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Bob Sweeney of the Boston Bruins Foundation will be making a special check presentation to Best Buddies, Inc. at Braintree High School where Best Buddies members with intellectual disabilities along with their mentors will be holding a holiday crafts party. Best Buddies members will be doing crafts, listening to music, and enjoying snacks. The members will be delivering the cards and crafts they make to a rehabilitation and retirement home in the area. 12.12.07: Boston Bruins alum and Boston Bruins Foundation Director of Development Bob Sweeney will join Curt and Shonda Shilling at their "Holiday Bubbles and Bites" benefit for the SHADE Foundation of America. The event will take place from 6:30-9pm at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston. Shonda Schilling, a skin cancer and melanoma survivor, founded SHADE in August 2002 after her successful battle against melanoma. SHADE is dedicated to eradicating melanoma through the education of children and the community in the prevention and detection of skin cancer and the promotion of sun safety
12.13.07: On Thursday December 13th the Boston Bruins Foundation and Charlie Jacobs will be hosting representatives from the other major Boston sports teams in Banners restaurant for an announcement of a $250,000 gift to kick start Ellis Memorial House's capital campaign to build new facilities at their South End location. Ellis Memorial, Boston's first settlement house, has been caring for children, disabled adults, and families who live and work in the South End and adjacent neighborhoods since 1885. Ellis' offers high quality educational, social, and health support services to individuals and families in need within a safe, nurturing, diverse environment.
12.13.07 and 12.15.07: The annual Boston Bruins Toys for Tots Toy Drive will be held at Bruins home games on Thursday, December 13th and Saturday, December 15th. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped, non-violent toys to the game to donate to the Marine collection sites located at the main turnstiles.
12.14.07: The entire Boston Bruins squad will be visiting local children's hospitals and shelters around Greater Boston to provide gifts and smiles for their annual Toy Delivery Day (time TBD). The team will be divided into groups to visit as many children as possible. Sites will include Children's Hospital, Boston, Mass General Hospital, Shriners Hospital and The Home for Little Wanderers.
The Boston Bruins have partnered with Village Automotive Group for their Keys to Success program. The program aims to provide high school administrators with the tools to motivate students to achieve academic success. Students have the chance to qualify for various prizes by exemplifying achievement of success in areas such as grade point average, improved attendance, tutoring, and volunteer work. The grand prize is a car courtesy of Village Automotive Group, The Bruins have partnered with the program to provide incentives and to be involved with in-school rallies and events.
