ISLES SATURDAY, FLYERS MONDAY: Following Thursday night’s victory over the Maple Leafs, the Northeast Division leading Bruins are currently the hottest team in the NHL in the last ten games, with an 8-1-1 record during that span. They will take on the Islanders on Long Island Saturday night (TV: NESN, RADIO: 98.5 The Sports Hub) and host Philadelphia on Monday (TV: NESN, RADIO: 98.5 The Sports Hub) in their next two contests. Both the Islanders and Flyers have struggled recently, with the Islanders 3-7-0 in their last 10 and the Flyers 2-8-0.
PLAY ALONGSIDE NEELY, O’REILLY, KIEFER SUTHERLAND IN THE AT&T LEGENDS CLASSIC: On Friday, December 18, the Boston Bruins Foundation will auction off two spots to play in the upcoming “Boston Bruins AT&T Legends Classic” on the club’s broadcast partners, NESN and 98.5 The Sports Hub. The first spot will be auctioned off by the Boston Bruins Foundation on The Sports Hub (98.5 FM) beginning when Toucher and Rich hit the airwaves at 6:00 a.m. and will end when Felger and Massarotti go off the air at 6:00 p.m. The second spot will be auctioned off by the Boston Bruins Foundation on NESN during the network’s coverage of that night’s Bruins/Blackhawks game beginning with W.B. Mason Bruins Face-Off LIVE at 8:00 p.m. ET. The winner will be announced following the conclusion of the game during Bruins Overtime LIVE presented by AceTicket.com.

MONDAY’S MEDIA AVAILABILITY AT FENWAY: As the countdown to the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day continues, media will have access to Fenway Park for photo opportunities of the rink build-out from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET Monday, Dec. 14. Media should enter and check-in at Gate D. The NHL will be conducting a media briefing session at 2:00 p.m. ET on Monday with the team in charge of transforming Fenway Park into a world-class ice hockey rink. NHL executives will be providing an update on the preparations at Fenway Park and will be available to answer questions.
“TEAM CHALLENGE” WINNERS ANNOUNCED: The Boston Bruins and SBLI announced the winners of the “Boston Bruins Youth Hockey Team Challenge.” 400,000 votes were received through the program. The top 20 teams, as determined by votes and each won 20 tickets to the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park on January 1. ANNUAL TOY DELIVERY SET FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15: At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, the entire Bruins roster will visit seven local hospitals and deliver toys to hospitalized children as part of the team’s annual Holiday Toy Delivery. The players recently purchased the toys last Tuesday. Please see the “Around Town” section of this release for more info.
RASK UP TO TASK: Bruins rookie goaltender Tuukka Rask
improved his record to 9-2-2 on the season after Thursday night’s win. He is 6-0-1 in his last seven starts and currently ranks second in the league in goals against with a 1.97 GAA.

After starting the season allowing at least one power play goal in their first five games (8 for 26, 69.2%), the Bruins have killed 77 of their last 84 times short (91.7%) and now rank first in the NHL in penalty killing at 86.4% overall ... The power play has heated up as well lately, as the Bruins have scored eight man-advantage goals in their last 23 opportunities for a 34.8% proficiency.

WHAT: Skate with the Ice Girls
The Boston Bruins “Skate with the Ice Girls” program is heading to the Jim Roche Community Ice Arena (1275 VFW Pkwy. West Roxbury, MA 02132) to skate with Bruins fans. Bruins fans will also have a chance to win Bruins autographed memorabilia and great prizes.

The Boston Bruins Foundation will host a holiday party for 130 children with special needs who attend Cardinal Cushing Center schools in Braintree and Hanover, MA. Cardinal Cushing Centers provide a life-centered approach in caring for children, young adults, and adults of all faiths with cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities as well as their families.

On Tuesday, December 15 the entire Boston Bruins 2009-10 roster will continue the Bruins annual toy delivery holiday tradition. The players and coaches will be divided into seven groups, with each group visiting patients and delivering toys to the following seven hospitals: Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, Mass General Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, Boston Medical Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Franciscan Hospital for Children.

BRUINS ON THE NHL LEADERBOARD:
-Patrice Bergeron currently ranks fourth overall in faceoffs won with 339 (S. Crosby, 378) and 6th in faceoff percentage at 58.8% (P. Gaustad, 63.6%). Bergeron is also tied for first in shootout game deciding goals with 2.
