Boston Bruins Week Ahead 1/4-1/11

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
WIVES CARNIVAL

On Sunday, January 6th, one of the city's greatest charity events, the Boston Bruins Wives' Charity Carnival, returns for its 18th consecutive year.  The Wives' Carnival, the longest running charity event held by any of Boston's professional sports franchises, was started in 1990 by players wives' Diane Brickley (Andy Brickley), Barb Wesley (Glen Wesley), and Rona Lemelin (Reggie Lemelin).  Since its inception, the Wives' Charity Carnival has raised more then $1.5 million dollars for various New England charities such as The Home for Little Wanderers, The Neely House for Cancer Care, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

This year's carnival proceeds will benefit Cradles to Crayons (www.cradlestocrayons.org), located in Quincy, MA.

Held at the TD Banknorth Garden, the Wives' Carnival is attended by Bruins players, coaching staff, and alumni, and is a chance for eager Bruins fans to participate in a variety of interactive games with their favorite Bruins - past and present.  Along with autograph and photo opportunities, some of the activities include playing ping-pong against Bruins players, taking shots on Bruins goaltenders and playing video games such as "Dance, Dance Revolution" and "Guitar Hero" with the B's.

This year is a special year for the Carnival as the Stanley Cup will be on hand for hockey fans to pose for a photo with the holy grail of hockey!
