BRUINS HONOR O'REE:  The Boston Bruins will host Willie O'Ree Day on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the TD Banknorth Garden in conjunction with their home game against the New York Rangers.  The Bruins will honor O'Ree and his contributions to professional hockey throughout the day in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of O'Ree breaking the color barrier in the NHL.


Festivities will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET with the unveiling of a permanent display dedicated to O’Ree in the Boston Bruins exhibit at the Sports Museum, located on the 5th level of the TD Banknorth Garden.  O'Ree will be available to the media after the unveiling is complete.

Before the game, O'Ree will participate in the ceremonial puck drop with the team captains and during the first intermission, O'Ree will be honored with a video presentation and on-ice ceremony involving Bruins legend and Hockey Hall of Famer John Bucyk and NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. 

WELCOME TO ATLANTA:  Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara will start in next weekend's NHL All-Star game in Atlanta.  The Bruins captain will make his third all-star appearance and his first as a starter while Bruins center Marc Savard will make his first ever NHL all-star appearance.  Savard leads the Bruins in points this year with 49 and has tallied 38 assists, which ranks 5th in the league.

Also for the Bruins, rookie forward Milan Lucic was selected to the Eastern Conference YoungStars team.  The YoungStars game will be played on Saturday, January 26.

CHARA CRACKS THE TOP 10:  Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara- who with his goal against Toronto on Thursday night now has 9 points in his last seven games- currently ranks 10th in the league for scoring amongst defensemen with 31 points.  Red Wings blueliner Nicklas Lindstrom leads all defensemen with 41.

BETWEEN THE PIPES:
  As of January 18, goaltender Tim Thomas currently leads the league in save percentage (.930%).  He ranks 9th amongst NHL goaltenders in goals against (2.33 GAA) and has recorded 13 wins on the season.

AROUND TOWN: 

01.23.08: On January 23, the Boston Bruins and Bay State Hockey will present "Skate with the Bruins" at two local ice rinks. Boston Bruins players will be at local rinks to host an open skate session, meet fans and sign autographs.  Each skate session is free to the public and open to the first 200 people.  The Bruins will be at the Navin Rink in Marlboro and the Jim Roche Arena in West Roxbury from 6:00-6:50 PM.

01.23.08:  The Boston Bruins wives and girlfriends, the American Heart Association's Go Red campaign and the Sara Campbell Boutique will host the first annual "Go Red in Your Own Fashion" exclusive shopping experience and fashion show.  The event will take place on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6-8:30pm at the Sara Campbell Boutique in Boston's South End.  The evening will feature a fashion show including the Bruins wives and girlfriends and heart disease survivors, a Q&A session with cardiologists and 10% discount and first preview of the Sara Campbell summer line. 10% of proceeds from the evening will benefit the American Heart Association.  This is a free event but all attendees must RSVP by January 14th to (508) 656-2059.

The Boston Bruins have partnered with Village Automotive Group for their Keys to Success program.  The program aims to provide high school administrators with the tools to motivate students to achieve academic success.  Students have the chance to qualify for various prizes by exemplifying achievement of success in areas such as grade point average, improved attendance, tutoring, and volunteer work.  The grand prize is a car courtesy of Village Automotive Group, The Bruins have partnered with the program to provide incentives and to be involved with in-school rallies and events.
