Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara was voted a starter in this year's NHL all-star game, which will be played on January 27 in Atlanta.  The starters for the game were chosen through fan voting at

This will be the third time that Chara appears in an All-Star game, and the first time that he has been voted into the starting lineup.  Chara received 271,272 votes, which ranked him seventh in the NHL, and third in the Eastern Conference.

Boston's AHL affiliate in Providence has three players starting in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, as goaltender Tuukka Rask and defenseman Matt Lashoff will suit up for the PlanetUSA squad while forward Pascal Pelletier will represent the Canadian squad.  The 2008 AHL All-Star Classic is scheduled for Monday, January 28 in Binghamton, NY.

As of January 11, goaltender Tim Thomas currently leads the league in save percentage (.930%).  He ranks 9th amongst NHL goaltenders in goals against (2.33 GAA) and has recorded 13 wins on the season.

01.13.08: Boston Bruins Defenseman Aaron Ward will be at Hockey Town USA in Saugus, MA to teach a 1-hour private hockey clinic to a local youth hockey team.  Aaron will provide great insight on the game of hockey, drill sets and maneuvers that the kids are sure to remember! The lucky team won this exclusive experience in March at the Boston Bruins Charity Auction.

01.14.08: On Monday the Boston Bruins Foundation will launch an online auction through which will feature game used equipment, player autographed jerseys, and once in a lifetime experiences such as a dinner outing with former Bruin Don Sweeney or a guest spot on NESN's "Rubber Biscuit". To bid please visit The auction will run through Monday January 28th and will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation.

The Boston Bruins will host their fourth TD Banknorth PASS Clinic on Tuesday, January 15th at the Armstrong Skating Rink in Plymouth, MA from 5:30-7:20 p.m. The PASS (Partnership to Assist Skaters and Shooters) clinic series teaches (80) youth hockey players shooting and skating skills from current and former Boston Bruins players. All children who participate in the clinic will receive two tickets to an upcoming game, a TD Banknorth/Boston Bruins PASS jersey, water bottle, backpack, skate rag, bag tag and autographs.
01.15.08: Boston Bruins Glen Murray and Shawn Thornton will join fellow Boston athletes at the Muscular Dystrophy Association's 2008 Muscle Team event at the Park Plaza Hotel. Muscle Team 2008 allows local athletes to be paired with an MDA Buddy, a child in the Greater Boston community affected by one of 43 neuromuscular diseases, to show their support and "put their muscles behind the fight against Muscular Dystrophy". The event includes a VIP reception and a silent and live auction. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Greater Boston.

01.15.08:  Bruins Tim Thomas and Zdeno Chara will participate in the Second Annual Boston Sports Fans Choice Awards.  The Awards show honors the best athletes and best performances of the past year in the Boston sports scene.  Thomas will be presenting the award for Rising Star while Chara will be honored as one of Boston's Hometown Heroes.  Marc Savard is nominated in the MVP category and Phil Kessel is up for the Rising Star.  The event will take place in the Rose Kennedy Ballroom at the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston.  The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 p.m. ET and  is the only portion of the event that is open to the media.
01.17.08: The Boston Bruins will face off against hunger with their first-ever "Five For Fighting Hunger" can and cash drive during their home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 17th. The Boston Bruins and the Greater Boston Food Bank will be collecting non-perishable food items to fill the vintage Boston Garden penalty box.  Fans who donate five non-perishable food items or $5 in cash will be entered in a contest to win Boston Bruins autographed merchandise.

The Boston Bruins have partnered with Village Automotive Group for their Keys to Success program. The program aims to provide high school administrators with the tools to motivate students to achieve academic success. Students have the chance to qualify for various prizes by exemplifying achievement of success in areas such as grade point average, improved attendance, tutoring, and volunteer work.  The grand prize is a car courtesy of Village Automotive Group, The Bruins have partnered with the program to provide incentives and to be involved with in-school rallies and events.
