BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has traded forward/defenseman Wade Brookbank to the Pittsburgh Penguins for future considerations. Brookbank, who was assigned to Providence (AHL) on November 11, was suspended indefinitely by the Bruins on December 1, for leaving the Providence team without permission.
Brookbank, who was in his first year with the Bruins after signing as a free agent on July 21, 2006, played in seven games this season for Boston, notching one goal, before being assigned to Providence. He played four games with the AHL club before leaving the team.
Brookbank played his first full season in the NHL last year with Vancouver, where he scored one goal and registered two assists in 32 games.
Boston returns home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Thursday night when they host the Vancouver Canucks at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday night, the Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens, also at 7:00 p.m. Both games can be seen live on NESN and heard live on WBZ Radio.
