BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, April 1, that the team has recalled forward Ryan Spooner from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis (American Hockey League). Spooner will join the club for practice on Tuesday and travel with the team to Detroit.
Spooner has appeared in 22 games with Boston this season, racking up 11 assists. In total, the forward has played in 26 NHL games for Boston (2012-14).
In 42 games for Providence this season, Spooner has tallied 10 goals and 30 assists (second on the team) for 40 points (fifth on the team) with a plus-11 rating (tied for third on the team).
In total, the 21-year-old pivot has skated in 109 AHL games with Providence from 2010 to 2014, accruing 30 goals and 74 assists for 104 points. Spooner was named the to 2014 AHL All-Star team on January 9, 2014.
The 5’10’’, 180-pound native of Kanata, Ontario was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (45th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
