Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, October 13, that the club has recalled defenseman Tommy Cross from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League) and placed defenseman Joe Morrow on IR. Cross will join the team in Denver, CO and will be eligible for Wednesday’s game against the Avalanche. This marks Cross’s first NHL recall.
Cross has appeared in two games for Providence this season, recording one assist.
Cross ranked second on the Providence Bruins in penalty minutes in the 2014-15 season with 85 and recorded four goals & 18 assists in 54 regular season games. Since the 2011-12 season, the 26-year-old, Simsbury, CT native has played in 155 games for Providence and notched eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points in that span.
Cross completed four seasons at Boston College where he played in 134 games, and scored 17 goals, tallied 43 assists and 171 penalty minutes. Cross won the NCAA National Championship with BC in 2010 and 2012 and was named Assistant Captain his junior season and then Captain his senior season with the Eagles.
The 6’3’’, 210-pound forward was drafted by Boston in the second round (35th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
