Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled center David Krejci
from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL). Krejci is traveling to Toronto and will be available for the club’s game against the Maple Leafs tonight.
Krejci, who is 20 years old and from Sternderk, Czech Republic, was selected in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. This is Krejci’s first season in Providence after spending the previous two years playing for Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
Krejci made his NHL debut on January 30, 2007 when he played three shifts before suffering a concussion in the club’s 7-1 loss in Buffalo. While with Providence this season, Krejci has scored 19 goals and registered 32 assists in 50 games played.
The Bruins return to action tonight when the square off with the Maple Leafs in Toronto in the fourth game of a six game road trip at 7:00 p.m. ET. Boston returns home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Monday, February 26 when the Bruins host the Atlanta Thrashers at 7:00 p.m. ET.
