Boston, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that goaltender Manny Fernandez underwent successful surgery this morning on his left knee at Massachusetts General Hospital’s outpatient surgical center in Waltham, MA. Following the surgery, it is likely that Fernandez will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2007-2008 NHL season.
The surgery, which was performed by Dr. Bertram Zarins, repaired a chronic tear of Fernandez’s medial collateral ligament (MCL).
The Black and Gold return home to the TD Banknorth Garden tomorrow night, when they will host the New Jersey Devils at 7:00 p.m. ET.
