#BearTracks 2016, Presented by Sal's Pizza, is On!

by Caryn Switaj / Boston Bruins — Since the summer of 2012, the Bruins have opened up their offseason homes for fans to get an inside look into their summer routines.

From Patrice Bergeron in Quebec City, to Brad Marchand in Halifax, Kevan Miller in Los Angeles, and Matt Beleskey in Barrie, the summer visits have traversed various cities in Canada and the U.S.

#BearTracks, presented by Sal's Pizza, is back again in 2016, with four more stops on tap from Aug. 17 through Aug. 23.

This summer’s lineup includes defenseman John-Michael Liles, along with new Bruins David Backes and Riley Nash, and defenseman Joe Morrow.

#BearTracks will kick off on Aug. 17 in Denver, Colo. with Liles, who inked a one-year contract with the Bruins on July 1. The veteran blueliner was originally acquired from Carolina at the trade deadline.

“It’ll be good! You know, a couple days, I can deal with,” Liles laughed via phone from Denver, in anticipation of the trip.

“I think it’s great. I like that stuff,” he said. “I think it’s a great thing to let fans get a glimpse of kind of what you go through on a day-to-day basis. Not only in season but, obviously, you guys are coming out to Denver in the offseason and I think it’s a cool thing.”

“I’m happy to be a part of it to give people a glimpse into my family’s day-to-day life and dealing with a one-year old, all that fun stuff.”

Liles, no doubt smiling through the phone, gave a preview of what life is like with a one-year-old in the offseason.

“Oh yeah, it’s 7:00 AM every morning. It’s 100 miles per hour. It’s go, go, go,” he laughed. “But it’s been a blast. You’ll definitely get a glimpse!”

Next, #BearTracks will check in on Backes in Minneapolis, Minn. After signing a five-year deal on July 1, Backes made a trip to Boston to get to know the city better, and in doing so, rocked the Spoked-B for the first time. Now, he’ll help Boston fans get to know him better.

Fans will then get an introduction to another newcomer signed on July 1, forward Riley Nash, with a stop in Kamloops, B.C. in Western Canada.

A quick drive through Banff will take #BearTracks to Morrow in Sherwood Park, Alta., where the defenseman grew up near Edmonton.
