Bear Essentials: Game Night vs. Montreal

by John Bishop / Boston Bruins
Toast Cam and Ray!
5:31 p.m.

Having finally escaped the clutches of press conference land I am safely ensconced on the 9th floor ready to watch what I estimate should be a pretty good hockey game.

So, catching up...

I had to miss today's launch of two spectacular new charity wines to the market:

To your right you see the labels for two very 'strong' wines. CamBernet and Bourque Merlot.

Ray Bourque and Cam Neely hosted the Hat Trick Cellars private launch party on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at The Greatest Bar, located just across the street from TD Banknorth Garden.

This event was designed specifically for the players, their friends and family, members of the media, VIPs and wine sellers.

At this event, attendees were able to sample Cam's and Ray's charity wines, CamBernet and Bourque Merlot, for the first time.

Rob Simpson of NESN emceed the event.

Why is this so exciting?

With the help of the Boston Bruins Foundation, a portion of proceeds from every bottle sold, will be donated to The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care (Cams chosen charity) or Celebrities for Charity (Rays chosen charity).

Bourque Merlot and CamBernet charity wines are being produced by award-winning winemaker Susie Selby out of Selby Winery in California.

John Bishop is the beat writer for He covers the Black & Gold hoping to offer a positive look at the team, not only from the stands and the press box, but also from inside the locker room. A graduate of Boston U. and Northeastern, 'Bish' grew up in Connecticut and moved to the Hub of Hockey in 1993. Since then he has made all four rinks at the Beanpot schools, as well as both Gardens, his icebound homes away from home. Prior to joining the TD Banknorth Garden staff in 2005, Bishop had written for several publications, with his primary focus being college hockey. He coauthored the book Bygone Boston in 2003 and hopes someday to pen a bio of Hobey Baker.
5:43 p.m. reports the following:

Canadiens lineup...

Begin-Chipchura - Kostopoulos
Markov-Komisarek (sg) Price
Hamrlik-Brisebois (bg) Huet

"Rookie goaltender Carey Price will get the start Thursday against the Boston Bruins. Garth Murray has cleared waivers. Spares: Latendresse, Murrray, Gorges."

5:51 p.m.
The above being said...I expect the following from the Bruins, who did not have a morning skate today.

Chara-Ward (sg) Thomas
Alberts-Wideman (bg) Rask

Now, you know that I know that it would be more dramatic for our young goalie to play their young goalie (Price vs. Rask).

Buuuuuuuuuuut, I have not heard anything around the Garden what would lead me to believe that we will see that tonight. However, since I have not seen, nor heard Coach Julien today, and as far as I know Tuukka had NOT been told that he is not starting, it would not shock me, either way. How is that for fence straddling

Tim, by the way, has been Superman for the B's this week (read that bulletproof) and we dedicate two songs to our favorite Catamount...

It may sound absurd...but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed...but won't you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me...

Five for Fighting, Superman

The Man of Steel (apologies to DC)
You call me strong, you call me weak
but still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head,
If not for me then you'd be dead
I'll get you up and put you back on solid ground
If I go crazy then will you still call me superman

Three Doors Down, Kryptonite

Well, it's certain to me that "It's not easy " for Timmy to be Timmy (110 shots over three games) and that he will put us "back on solid ground" if he plays tonight...

7:01 p.m.
Hey! we are missing Thornton and Ference.

Timmy is in goal...he led the guys out.
Here's hoping he's bulletproof, again, tonight!

7:16 p.m.
Wish you were here. The place is hopping with jersey-clad fans starting chants.

"Go Habs Go" and "Here we go Bruuuuins" are the staples right now. I am quite happy to not be in the balcony tonight, thank you very much....

7:24 p.m.
Anthems are on the way. I will see you on the Running Recap. Go BRUINS!
