A Quick Update: Islanders @ Bruins

by John Bishop / Boston Bruins
A quick update from the Garden…

Brendan Bochenski, Zdeno Chara, Jeff Hoggan, Petteri Kokelainen, Milan Lucic, Nate Thompson, Dennis Wideman and Tim Thomas were on the ice this morning at 11 a.m.

With the exception of Timmy, who will dress as Manny Fernandez's backup, the other seven skaters will have the day off.

Chara's absence is precautionary while the other skaters will sit for various reasons -- Lucic, in particular "has played a lot of hockey" said Coach Julien. And he also said that they have seen what Milan brings to the table -- which is probably the same situation that the other skaters on the bubble, who are sitting tonight, find themselves in, as well.

"We know where we stand (with Milan) right now, and we'll make our last decisions tonight," added the coach.

Cuts are expected in the near future, but Julien did not want to put a solid date or number on the process, and said that those decisions were up to the GM.

"Obviously Peter and I will talk tonight," said Claude. "And we'll decide when that gets done.

"(But) he's the one who has the last say as far as when and where…right now we've got some decisions to make and were making our lineup according to that."

A bonding experience
"I was an opportunity for the players to get to know each other," said Julien in answer to what he thought the most important part of the Vermont trip. "And it gave people an opportunity to learn to work together and figure things out.

"It was a great time for them to bond."
