Asked about the state of the team this morning, Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was frank about his assessment of the first half of the season.
"I think we can be better," said Chara, bluntly. "And we certainly want to be better."
And Chara looked to the schedule for hope in terms of a Boston turn around.
"We need to win the games we have in hand and it’s not going to be easy," he said. "But that’s our goal."
Despite the setbacks, however, Big Z stands by his teammates.
"As I’ve been saying all year long, I really like this team -- the personnel and the players that we have," said the captain. "We just have to go through it, together, and win as many games as possible in the second half."
Now fully into that second half, there is no doubt the rest of the east is fighting for the last five playoff spots -- and the Pittsburgh Penguins are the first team on the docket, leading the B’s by one point in the East.
"It’s (good) to get back into the game the next day and try to win," said Chara of games on back-to-back nights. "(But) obviously it is going to be a challenge for us." --- The game is in less than 20-minutes.
