Morris is ready for the season...
My newest trusty intern, Dyan, reports that Derek Morris is in town
, at the golf tournament, and ready to be a Bruin.
The Boston media asked about his summer.
"I just stayed home and trained," he said. "I realize it’s a big year for the team and myself and I want to come in and play real, real well, so I stayed in and trained.
And now, the defenseman is getting into being a New Englander and watching Boston's boys of summer.
"I’m a huge baseball fan," said Morris. "It’s a sport that I wish I could have been a little better at and could have played a little more.
"But I watch it pretty religiously and what an opportunity [in Boston]. Fenway Park’s the place that anybody that watches baseball at all realizes the history there, and the tradition."
The B's rookies are enjoying their afternoon off. Meanwhile, in Boston, the Bruins are enjoying this year's golf tournament.
Steve Babineau, the B's longtime team photographer, sent some pictures along and it looks like Derek Morris talked to the media.
Look for an update on that and much more, right here.
We're well into practice here in Kitchener.
The youngsters are being put through their paces by Coaches Murray, Cassidy and Houda.
Meanwhile, in Wilmington, the informal skates continued.
It was five-on-five shinny today, with Chara, Kobasew, Bergeron, Bitz, Sobotka, Bodnarchuk and Sturm, Wheeler, Ference, and Rask taking on Krejci, Stuart, Boychuk, Hunwick, Ryder, Morris, Marchard, Wideman, Thornton, Regan and Dalton.
A couple of other players, including Mikko Lehtonen were on the ice earlier.
