BOSTON -The B's returned Wednesday night from a four-game road sweep and kept the good vibes rolling starting Thursday morning with eight more years of David Pastrnak and a new veteran forward in Tyler Bertuzzi.

Pasta Through 2031

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that the team has signed forward
David Pastrnak
to an eight-year contract extension through the 2030-31 season with an annual NHL cap hit of $11.25 million.
"Obviously, it's a really exciting day for me and my family," said Pastrnak. "I would like to thank my family, my mom, my brother for all the support, and my fiancé Rebecca. It's been amazing and obviously to Cam and Sweens and Mr. Jacobs for getting it done. I'm very thankful to be a part of this organization and to sign another extension, it's been a home for us, so we're really excited as a family to stay here."
Fans all over were ecstatic to hear the news, and, of course, coach Jim Montgomery was thrilled. "It's great to hear," said Montgomery. "I think it reenforces the great culture about how important it is to be here."
The signing also speaks volumes about what an opportunity it is to be a Boston Bruin. "I mean everyone has said it…it's special to be a Bruin, whether you've originated here or come from somewhere else."
Sweeney also spoke with the media following the news of Pastrnak's extension. "Well, first and foremost, congratulations to David and Rebecca for the contract," said Sweeney. "Our goal all along was to make him a lifelong Bruin. Every deal has its own timeline and we're very happy and fortunate to have David be a part of our team now and going forward for obviously the foreseeable future."

Welcome to Boston, Bertuzzi

The Bruins acquired Tyler Bertuzzi from the Detroti Red Wings in exchange for a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick.
"I think he's an excellent hockey player someone at understands how to win," said Montgomery. "He's a great complementary winger, he goes hard to hard areas, he's a great net front guy, 5-on-5, power play, he's got a lot of sandpaper to him as Bruins fans will know from his altercation with our other sandpaper guy, Marchy."
Bertuzzi checks in this season with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 29 games.

Injury/Lineup Update

Sweeney announced that
Taylor Hall
has been placedon long-term injured reserve and Nick Foligno has been placed on injured reserve. "It's a really tough loss, both of them...they're both key guys that have really helped us have the season we've had so far and hopefully the two of them can get healthy soon, but it's not looking good," said Montgomery. "So that's why we needed to go out and add another player that can come in and help us win hockey games right now."
Jakub Lauko has been recalled from Providence and will skate on the third line with Tomas Nosek and Garnet Hathaway. Derek Forbort will be out of the lineup tonight vs. the Sabres, putting Brando Carlo back in to skate with Dmitry Orlov.
