It’s not time for back-to-school, but for a large group of determined boys and girls, they are ready to start learning. The St. Louis Blues Youth Hockey Camp kicked off Monday at the IceZone in the St. Louis Mills mall. More than 100 students are participating in the sessions from all across the United States.
Kids ages 5 – 16 are learning hockey techniques from current Blues players such as Erik Johnson, David Backes, Cam Janssen, Ben Bishop, Carlo Colaiacovo and more. Chris Morehouse of the ECHL serves as the lead instructor for the camp, after several years of experience running youth hockey camps in Canada.
Participants will benefit from on-ice instruction for 2 ½ hours as well as off-ice training and team building exercises. Each day, the campers also get the chance to win autographed Blues memorabilia.
Session 1 of the camp runs through Friday, and the second session begins Monday, August 3 and ends on Friday, August 7.
Children aged 5-16 can still sign up for Session 2 by calling 314-622-2527.
