ST. LOUIS - After a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, a visibly-frustrated Mike Yeo hinted that it might be time to make some examples and alter the lineup.
Yeo will follow through on that Wednesday vs. Detroit (7 p.m., NBCSN, KMOX), bringing Chris Thorburn back into the lineup and taking Patrik Berglund out of it.
"I just met with Bergy. I don't want to say those are difficult decisions, but he's a guy that his teammates love and a guy that I've seen play very good hockey for us," Yeo said. "But he's not playing to the highest level he can right now. I feel like he's lost right now as far as his identity, his role, and what he is doing when he's an effective player. He comes out tonight.
"Part of it might be a little bit of a message to the team that somebody might be next," Yeo added. "Part of it is a bit of a message to Bergy and part of it is a reset button, too."
Yeo said he liked the way Carter Hutton battled on Tuesday night against Minnesota, so Hutton will be between the pipes Wednesday against Detroit.
Yeo also said he will make adjustments to his lines, but wasn't ready to reveal those changes yet.
"We looked at video this morning, but ultimately we've got to get the job done," Yeo said of getting the team back on track. "Even watching the video again (from) that game, we're capable of doing it one shift, one group is capable of doing it out there, and then the next group goes out and (they're) not getting the job done. We've got to make sure that shift after shift, man after man, we're ready to do it."
