ST. LOUIS - The only thing bigger than the Winter Classic might be the overwhelming demand for its tickets.
Less than 15 hours after announcing that Busch Stadium would play host to the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic for a matchup between the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks, more than 25,000 fans have registered through stlouisblues.com to be notified when tickets become available.
If all 25,000 of those fans purchased two tickets, Busch Stadium would already be more than 3,000 beyond it’s 46,861-seat capacity!
“We’ve seen an incredible response since the announcement last night," said Josh Bender, the Blues' Group VP of Ticketing and Guest Experience. "The phones have been ringing non-stop with calls from both season ticket holders wishing to renew, and new clients placing deposits on ticket packages for next year. The response shows just how passionate our fans are and how excited this city is to host this fantastic event.”
Fans who renew their 2016-17 Blues season ticket plan or purchase a new ticket plan will be given priority access to Winter Classic tickets. Once those requests are fulfilled, fans who have registered to be notified will receive more information on ticket options for the NHL’s premier outdoor event.
To renew your season tickets, visit the Blues Season Ticket Holder Portal at stlouisblues.com/sth or call 314.622.BLUE (2583). Fans interested in purchasing a new 2016-17 season ticket plan or who want to be notified when more options become available can learn more at stlouisblues.com/tickets.
“We’ve seen how great the Winter Classics are,” Blues goalie Jake Allen said. “The energy and the passion, it’s a big thing for our city. We’ve been one of the best organizations in the NHL in the last 50 years and next year is our 50th anniversary, so to be able to have that to look forward to next year is going to huge for us, our city, and the organization.
“It’s nine months away, but I’m looking forward to it already.”
