Tarasenko scores in first WCH game

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

If Vladimir Tarasenko needs any time to get to his A-game after a three-month offseason, he doesn't show it.

The 24-year-old forward scored just 5:22 into the second period of Team Russia's preliminary World Cup of Hockey game against the Czech Republic, helping his club to a 4-3 victory.

Tarasenko had three shots on goal in 14 minutes and 38 seconds of ice-time.

Colton Parayko (Team North America) will play Team Europe tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, while Alex Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester (Team Canada) faceoff with Team USA on Friday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU).
