ST. LOUIS – The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko has been named the Third Star for the week ending Oct. 18. In addition, Montreal's Carey Price was named First Star and Dallas' Tyler Seguin was named Second Star.
Tarasenko recorded points in all four Blues games last week, including an assist in a 4-3 win at Calgary, a goal in a 4-2 win at Edmonton, two assists in a 4-3 win at Vancouver, and his 10th career multi-goal game - including the game winner - in a 4-2 win at Winnipeg.
The Yaroslavl, Russia, native tied for fourth among all skaters with six points overall last week while his +6 rating was tied for the League lead.
Tarasenko's season-long six-game point streak is tied for the longest active stretch in the NHL (Blake Wheeler), while he is the first Blue to open a season with points in each of his first six games since Brad Boyes in 2008-09. He currently shares the NHL lead with five goals (Jamie Benn, Zach Parise, Tomas Plekanec) and nine points overall (David Krejci, Henrik Zetterberg).
