Steen, Tarasenko will be gametime decisions

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS - Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said he couldn't say with 100 percent certainty whether Blues forwards Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko would play in tonight's 7 p.m. game vs. San Jose.

Steen took a hard hit from Buffalo Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges in the first period Tuesday and returned to the game, but did not play in the third period for "precautionary reasons." Steen did participate in Thursday's morning skate, though.

Tarasenko, who Hitchcock acknowledged was dinged up in Tuesday's game vs. Buffalo, did not skate with the team Wednesday and also didn't participate in Thursday's morning skate.

"We're going to take the whole group into the warm-up," Hitchcock said. "We can't 100 percent tell you whether they're going to play right now."

If Wednesday's practice is any indication, expect Dmitrij Jaskin and Ty Rattie to fill in if Steen or Tarasenko can't play.

Here is tonight's projected lineup, although a lot could change:

Jaden Schwartz - Paul Stastny - Alexander Steen (Dmitrij Jaskin)
Robby Fabbri - Jori Lehtera - Vladimir Tarasenko (Ty Rattie)
Nail Yakupov - Patrik Berglund - David Perron
Scottie Upshall - Kyle Brodziak - Ryan Reaves

Jay Bouwmeester - Alex Pietrangelo
Carl Gunnarsson - Kevin Shattenkirk
Petteri Lindbohm - Colton Parayko
