ST. LOUIS - Blues forwards Alexander Steen and Patrik Berglund have been selected to represent Sweden at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Steen, 29, will be representing Sweden for the fourth time overall and first at the Olympics. Previously, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native and Swedish citizen appeared at the 2002 U-18 World Juniors, the 2003 and 2004 World Juniors and the 2007 World Championships.
This season, the 6-foot, 212-pound forward leads the Blues with 38 points and ranks third overall with 24 goals, while his six game-winning goals share second overall.
Currently in his ninth NHL season and sixth with the Blues, Steen has amassed 341 points (147 goals, 194 assists) and 248 penalty minutes in 572 career games.
Berglund, 25, will be representing Sweden for the fifth time overall and first at the Olympics. Previously, the Vesteras native appeared at the 2007 and 2008 World Juniors as well as the 2009 and 2011 World Championships.
This season, the 6-foot-3, 217-pound forward has dressed in 38 games for the Blues, posting 17 points on six goals and 11 assists.
Currently in his sixth NHL season, Berglund has accumulated 205 points (98 goals, 107 assists) and 126 penalty minutes in 396 career games.
