Matt Kessel will make his NHL debut on Sunday when the St. Louis Blues host the Boston Bruins at 2:30 p.m. at Enterprise Center (TNT, 101 ESPN).
Kessel was recalled Sunday morning under emergency conditions due to Marco Scandella suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday's game in Nashville.
Kessel arrived in St. Louis shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday. The 22-year-old defenseman has spent this season with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds and leads all blueliners on the club with 31 points (five goals, 26 assists) in 66 games.

"He's played well down there. He came in last year from college and did a good job," Blues Head Coach Craig Berube said. "It was kind of his first year pro, but a pretty good skater, big guy, defender. Has the ability to skate and get up the ice, too... I'm looking forward to seeing him."
Prior to turning pro, Kessel won a national champonship with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2021, posting 23 points in 29 games as a sophomore. He was drafted by the Blues in the fifth round (No. 150 overall) in 2020.
Since the Blues did not hold a morning skate, the projected lineup below is a guess based on Saturday's game in Nashville and Scandella's absence due to injury. Berube said Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich are skating but will not return against the Bruins.
The lineup will be updated below if changes are available during pregame warm-ups.
