ST. LOUIS - Jaden Schwartz will be in the lineup tonight when the Blues host the Minnesota Wild at 7 p.m. at Scottrade Center.
Schwartz missed the start of training camp while contract negotiations played out. After signing a two-year deal on Saturday, Schwartz joined the team on the ice for practice on Monday.
After just a handful of practices, Schwartz will see game action.
“It did come pretty quick,” Schwartz said Thursday before the game. “It will be good to see where I’m at after this game and know what I’ve got to work on.”
Despite not being in camp, Schwartz was training back home. He also skated alone on the team’s off days (Sunday and Wednesday).
“I’m just trying to get the timing back and get the legs under me,” Schwartz said. “I’m excited to play. I’ll have the butterflies tonight. It’s my first game in a long time, so I’ll be excited. Hopefully my legs feel pretty good.”
Expect Schwartz to play on a line with Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko tonight.
“Today was the first time I’ve skated with them on a line, but I’ve been watching,” Schwartz said. “They work hard, they drive the net when they have to. Obviously they’re smart players and they do a lot of good things, and they can make a play when it’s there.
“Tonight will be good to get in the game and get to make some plays with them. I think I’ll know more (about them) after tonight.”
