Blues center Brayden Schenn has been named an alternate captain for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship tournament.

Ryan O'Reilly (Buffalo Sabres) was also named an alternate captain for the team, while Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers) was appointed as the team's captain.
This will be Schenn's third time playing with Team Canada (2015, 2017). He will join Blues teammates Jaden Schwartz, Joel Edmundson and Colton Parayko on Team Canada's roster.
In the 2017-18 season, Schenn set new career highs in goals (28), assists (42) and points (70) and led the club in points and assists. He also made his first career appearance in the 2018 NHL All-Star Game.
The 2018 IIHF World Championship begins Friday in Denmark, where Team Canada will face Team USA.
