Reaves to Get Surgery on Right Hand

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

Blues forward Ryan Reaves will undergo surgery on his right hand and will be re-evaluated in six weeks. He has been placed on injured reserve.

Reaves was injured in a fight with Stars defenseman Brenden Dillion in the first period of the Nov. 23 game vs. Dallas.

"He hit that fella quite hard," Hitchcock said after the game. "I know he only played five shifts before he got hurt, but he had five really good shifts. We're going to miss him, but other guys are going to step up for us."

Hitchcock said Adam Cracknell and Magnus Paajarvi will get more opportunities with Reaves out.

Surgery on Reaves' hand will be performed by Dr. Charles Goldfarb at Washington University Orthopedics and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
