GLENDALE, AZ - The Blues will make two lineup changes tonight as they look to complete a season sweep of the Arizona Coyotes at 9:30 p.m. CT at Gila River Arena (FSMW, KMOX).
The Blues will also be attempting to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the sixth consecutive season if they can get a little help from the Calgary Flames.
Goalie Carter Hutton will get the start between the pipes while defenseman Jordan Schmaltz will take Carl Gunnarsson's place on defense.
"(Hutton) has got all the skills as far as winning hockey games, but there's much more that goes into it," Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said of his goaltender. "He's a great teammate for the guys and he goes unnoticed with the extra work he puts in after practice. We're hoping we put a good game in front of him tonight."
Since Feb. 1, Hutton and Jake Allen have combined for a League-best .940 save-percentage and five shutouts.
Yeo said Gunnarsson is a little "banged up" from Monday's game vs. Arizona, but that the team intended to play Schmaltz tonight anyway.
"We want to make sure everybody stays part of this and make sure everyone's game stays sharp," Yeo said. "He's a young player that needs experience, so we figure now is a good time."
Here is the projected lineup for tonight's game against the Coyotes:
Jaden Schwartz - Alexander Steen - Vladimir Tarasenko
Magnus Paajarvi - Patrik Berglund - David Perron
Zach Sanford - Ivan Barbashev - Nail Yakupov
Scottie Upshall - Kyle Brodziak - Ryan Reaves
Jay Bouwmeester - Alex Pietrangelo
Joel Edmundson - Colton Parayko
Robert Bortuzzo - Jordan Schmaltz
