Projected Lineup: Feb. 28 vs. Edmonton

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS - The Blues will meet the Edmonton Oilers tonight at 7 p.m. at Scottrade Center, and they'll do it without Kevin Shattenkirk, who ranked second on the team in points with 42.

Shattenkirk was traded Monday night to the Washington Capitals in a deal that brought the Blues a 2017 first-round pick, a conditional second-round pick and forward Zach Sanford. The Blues also dealt goalie Pheonix Copley to the Capitals in exchange for Brad Malone.

So how does the trade make life different for Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo?

"In all honesty, it doesn't," Yeo said after the morning skate. "Every day we're faced with different lineups and changes. We make sure we put all our focus on the guys in the locker room and we're still confident in our group."

With Shattenkirk's absence, expect captain Alex Pietrangelo to initially assume his role on the first power-play unit. Pietrangelo has scored nine goals this season, and Yeo thinks he could have more if he had been in Shattenkirk's spot on the power play. Also expect a larger role for Colton Parayko, although Yeo said he's still sorting things out.

"It's going to be a work in progress," Yeo said. "I can't sit here and say this is what we're going to do and proclaim to have all the answers here. We'll work at it, we'll try to figure it out but we're obviously confident in the group we have.

"We still have good players," Yeo added. "(Shattenkirk) was a key part for us, but we'll replace a right shot with a right shot… I don't know if we have the plan of how it'll go three weeks from now, but it's up to us to start trying things."

For tonight's game against Edmonton, expect Carl Gunnarsson and Robert Bortuzzo to be paired together. In addition, Ivan Barbashev, who was recalled Monday, will draw back into the lineup. Ryan Reaves, who had an x-ray after blocking a shot Sunday in Chicago, is OK and will be in the lineup.

Here is the projected lineup for tonight's game, based in part on Monday's practice. It is subject to change.
